Ceres 10K Series Road Town Race #1

Dear BVI Runner,
We are delighted to announce the kick off of the CERES 10K SERIES commencing SATURDAY JUNE 24TH, 2017.
We are also pleased to note that race one will be held in con junction with the OLYMPIC DAY RUN
The race start/finish is at the AO Shirley Grounds Mondo track.
Registration will commence at 5.30am for the Olympic day walk/run which will be a short course. REGISTER ONLINE for the Ceres 10k, there will be race day registration however it helps immensely to register in advance. Ceres 10k walkers and all Olympic course run/walkers will start at 6.00am with the Ceres 10k runners starting approx. 6:15am.

THE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE will sponsor FREE T-SHIRTS for all entrants and a certificate of participation will be earned. NIAGARA WATER will be provided at water stops and after the event with CERES JUICES.

CERES 10K SERIES
START AND FINISH
Start and finish on the Mondo Athletic Track, A.O. Shirley Grounds, Road Town. Please park on the festival grounds across the dual carriageway. Do NOT park at the south entrance, this is part of the race course.
The race will start at the 200m start line on the Mondo Track, A.O. Shirley Grounds, Road Town at 6.15a.m.
A course map is provided. After the start run 230m of the track to exit at the south gate turning left onto the dual carriageway towards Purcell Roundabout. Go around Purcell roundabout and the length of the dual carriageway to Bobby’s roundabout. Turn first left at Bobby’s roundabout to run between the banks, past Scotia bank, First Bank and follow the one way system to run by Banco Popular Bank. Turn right towards First Caribbean and left by Amore (formerly Columbian Emeralds) to continue along the main road towards the ferry dock. Continue along the highway to Prospect Reef roundabout and turn around the roundabout. Return to Peebles hospital car park. Turn left at the hospital car park and immediately right to run the length of Main Street. Keep on Main Street all the way to the foot of Joes Hill, past the bandstand, do not take the first turn after Joes Hill towards the electricity station but continue to take a left turn left before the High School. Continue along this road which curves to the right and through Lower Estate to join the Huntums Ghut road. Turn right and run back towards the Police Station. Turn left at the Police Station towards the traffic lights. Turn right at the traffic lights and re-enter the track at the south gate. Continue anti-clockwise around the track to the finish at the 100m finish line mark.
There will be a waterstop opposite the south entrance of the track at 2 miles and at Peebles hospital car park at approx. 4 miles.
THE ROADS REMAIN OPEN TO TRAFFIC, runners may run on either side of the road at their discretion however are strongly encouraged to use pavement wherever possible. Runners should respect the Highway Code. Each runner enters the race at his own risk and should have previous experience in racing on open roads.
